Four Sports Bets to Place in Spring, Spring is just around the corner which is great news for sports punters as there are so many great events to look forward to over the next few months. Here are some of the highlights and some predictions as to who will come out on top.
Jordan Spieth to Win the US Masters – 8/1
Jordan Spieth’s record at Augusta National since making his debut in 2014 is remarkable. The American has won the event, finished second twice and ended the weekend in a tie for 11th. The three-time Major winner loves playing in Georgia at a course which really suits his game. Spieth is the best putter in golf today and when the greens are fast at the Masters, he is able to gain so many shots on the rest of the field. At 8/1, he is a fantastic each-way bet as it is difficult to see the 24-year-old not being in contention once again on the final day. The 2015 winner has no problems seeing out tournaments and will be keen to have a big year in 2018 as he strives to become the world number one in the sport once again.
Ronnie O’Sullivan to Win the World Snooker Championship – 4/1
At the age of 42, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Ronnie O’Sullivan’s best years as a professional are behind him. Given what we have seen so far this season, though, the Rocket still has the game to come out on top after the 17-day marathon at the Crucible in Sheffield.
O’Sullivan won his fifth world title in 2013 so remains two behind the record set by Stephen Hendry, who is a seven-time winner of the tournament. Although it may be difficult to break or even level the Scotsman’s record, there is still another one in him. It is advised to take the 4/1 on the Rocket now as if he does win a tournament before April, the odds on him securing his sixth world title this year are likely to collapse.
Blaklion to Win the 2018 Grand National – 12/1
Blaklion went into the Grand National last year as the 8/1 favourite to come out on top in the world’s most famous steeplechase. At one point in the final stages of the race, he looked like the most likely winner, however, unfortunately for his connections, he had to settle for fourth place. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ runner made a return to the Grand National fences last December where he won the Becher Handicap Chase by nine lengths.
At the age of nine, Blaklion is at the perfect age to win the 4m2f contest in April at his second attempt. The chaser had no problems with the bigger fences at the Merseyside track and he is in excellent form going into the race. It is set to be a big couple of months for the horse as he is also entered in the Cheltenham Gold Cup where he is a 25/1 outsider. The Cheltenham Festival is the biggest week of the year in national hunt racing and Timeform’s tips cover all 27 races, including the Gold Cup. Blaklion has an each-way chance in that race but his big win of the season could come just weeks later in the Grand National.
Gennady Golovkin To beat Canelo Alvarez On Points – 5/2
Middleweight superstars Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez are set to meet for the second time in the ring in May after they drew in their previous bout in 2017. Golovkin looked to have done enough to win that contest but the judges could not agree on the decision.
Golovkin has won 37 of his 38 fights since turning a professional as he has been so destructive in the middleweight division. The Kazakh boxer holds the WBA, WBC and IBF belts in the division so just needs the WBO strap to be crowned the undisputed middleweight champion. Golovkin was the busier of the two boxers when they met last September and that is likely to be the case again here. It is difficult to see Canelo being stopped as he has such a tough chin, but Golovkin will land the most punches so take him at 5/2 to win on points this time around.
Good luck with all your bets this spring; hopefully, you will be celebrating many of the above events with the winner.
