Cheltenham Festival 2017
Welcome to our Cheltenham Festival 2017 article, In which you can find out all about this historic horse racing meeting and why its the number one festival that gets punters pulses racing!
The Cheltenham Festival originated in 1860 when the National Hunt Chase was first held at Market Harborough. It was titled the Grand National Hunt meeting and took place at several locations Warwick Racecourse being the main venue and in 1904/05 it was staged at Cheltenham at a new course built at Prestbury Park.
It did later return to Warwick for a few years until eventually going back to Cheltenham where it is now held annually and is thought of as its real home.
Ruby Walsh has dominated the jockey tables since 2005 and has won top jockey at the festival an amazing ten times in his career while Willie Mullins has won top trainer 5 times and is thought of the master trainer at the course, Paul Nicholls has actually won this honour on six occasions.
Many punters will be aware of that occasion where Ruby Walsh was going to take the bookies for £50 million had he won his last race aboard Annie Power who fell at the last fence when clear, and actually traded in running on betting exchanges at 1-20 much to punters dismay when she fell.
The 2017 renewal of the Cheltenham Festival in 2017 promises to be a real spectacle as always and could be a festival with many changes where it comes to top jockey and trainer.
